Ausflugsziele in Vorarlberg

A women's museum? And one in a rural location? The Fraunemuseum Hittisau in the Bregenzerwald (Austria) shows that both are possible – and have been for over twenty years now. It was the initiative of Elisabeth Stöckler that brought about the founding of the museum in 2000.

The open-air museum Villa Rustica, near the town of Rankweil, consists of three buildings of an ancient Roman farming estate, inhabited from the first to the fifth centuries A.D.

This museum is dedicated to Vorarlberg’s best known writer and poet who lived in the 19th century.

The Vorarlberg Regional Museum – now known as the Vorarlberg Museum – was founded in 1857, making it one of the oldest museums in the Lake Constance area. Its collections are based on specifically Vorarlberg-orientated themes, whilst retaining national and international links where relevant.

Take a stroll through 300 years of hat fashion and discover familiar, interesting and curious facts about headwear. The hands-on stations invite you to try things out and marvel.

The display collection of the "Walsermuseum" is located in the fire station and houses the extensive collection of the Heimatpflege- und Museumsverein Lech-Tannberg.

The Natural History Museum invites visitors to explore the regional fauna and minerals up close.

The Lech Museum operates its facility as a house for culture, history and language with a supra-regional appeal in a contemporary manner and refers to socially relevant contemporary issues in its special exhibitions and publications.

Hans Bäumler’s unique private collection encompasses over 100 masterpieces from artists as varied as Spitzweg, Waldmüller Monet, Renoir, Gauguin and Picasso; 130 years of art history presented in a pattern and with a compactness seldom found elsewhere.

The museum of local history in Alberschwende is spread over two locations. The show in the Arzthaus offers insights into the rural way of life and living culture of the 18th and 19th centuries. One focal point is dedicated to the career "From flax to linen".
