This museum houses a permanent collection of works by Vorarlberg artists since the 17th century, and also organises special exhibitions by leading figures in Vorarlberg art history.
The main focus of the collection centres on principal artistic movements in Vorarlberg during the last century. Among many others, visitors can admire works by artists such as Rudolf Wacker, Oswald Baer, Herbert von Reyl-Hanisch, Hubert Bechtold, Albert Bechtold, Alexandra Wacker, Edmund Kalb, Paul Renner, Herbert Albrecht, Stefanie Hollenstein, Tone Fink, Angelika Kauffmann, Hanno Rhomberg.
The modern wing, built in 1999, was designed with the motto “Living and working under one roof” in mind. Its architectural quality lies in the sophisticated proportions connecting the capacity of the building as a whole to that of each individual room within it.
