The FLATZ Museum in the former premises of the Alte Naturschau goes back to a donation of works by the artist FLATZ, born in Dornbirn in 1952, to the city of Dornbirn. It was opened in 2009 by the former documenta director Jan Hoet. The FLATZ Museum sees itself as a forum for the examination of artistic impulses and positions of the present.
The museum is a place for the presentation and mediation of FLATZ's artistic position, it shows changing exhibitions conceived by international guest curators with a focus on photographic art, and organises readings, lecture series, discussions and performances. The collection comprises key works by the artist from the period 1975 to 1999 and is supplemented by private loans.
