The Nature-Experience at Holdamoos, which links Au and Schoppernau, lies in the midst of a charming culture and natural landscape. At the core of Holdamoos is a 430-year-old alpine hut, which was saved from beeing sold and demolished.

There is an impressive herb garden with its wonderful colours, aromas and hidden powers. The herbs are still used today for their health benefits for both humans and animals. Around the hut and the lake there are well-maintained walkways, an adventurous hanging bridge over the ravine, a Kneipp therapy facility and an informative nature and farming walkway.

Events in the Holdamoos Nature Park

In the realm of herbs
At the Holdamoos herbal garden you will be impressed by the colours, scents and hidden powers of numerous curative plants. As you then walk through the Holdamoos nature park, you will come across a mystic hazelnut site which invites you to pause for a while and contemplate. Weary spirits are revived at a cool fountain. Duration: approx. 1 ½ hours.

Wednesdays from mid-June to mid-September.

Historic farmsteads and magic herbs
At the Holdamoos nature park, young visitors can explore many wondrous and fascinating things: stories about the high-lying ancient farmstead used during summer when the cattle was driven up the mountains, about fire-making or the dark cheese cellar. In the herbal garden, you will learn about which herbs (curative plants) help soothe a bee sting, which will make you strong as an ox, and which taste deliciously on a slice of bread. Then the party crosses the funny wobbly bridge back to the mysterious hazelnut site.
