Episcopal baroque residence on the shores of Lake Constance
The former residence of the prince-bishops of Constance is particularly striking for its picturesque location on the steep slope high above the shores of Lake Constance. From the terrace there is a magnificent view of the panorama of the Alps - an almost Mediterranean flair can be felt here.
Since the Reformation, Meersburg has been the centre of the prince-bishopric of Constance. In the 18th century, three prince bishops were responsible for transforming the medieval bishop's town into a modern baroque residential town, including a magnificently furnished castle.
