Description & Infos

You are now standing in front of the former post office, which was originally built by Joseph Spieler in 1808 as a beer brewery. Later the building was enlarged and the tavern "Zur Sonne" was opened up. When Mr. Spieler became postmaster in 1822 the tavern was given the name "Zur Post". In 1910 the brewery building was finally converted into a post office, in art nouveau style, by the architect Hanns Kornberger, and it was used by the postal service for 70 years afterwards. In 1982 the tavern "Zur Alten Post" was converted into an office complex. As a consequence of the closing of the "Alte Post" other culinary establishments were opened here in 2004.
