Ausflugsziele in Vorarlberg

Following on from the huge success generated by the Indoor Secret Escape Games, the Secret Room, well-timed to coincide with the start of summer, is the number 1 Outdoor Escape Game in Vorarlberg.

The Vorarlberg World of Museums combines seven museums under one roof.

Open a window into the past. The Old Times Museum is located in the old village centre of Hohenems in a house built in 1602. The wooden building was saved from demolition in 2011 and has since been renovated and maintained by a sponsoring association.

Hans Bäumler’s unique private collection encompasses over 100 masterpieces from artists as varied as Spitzweg, Waldmüller Monet, Renoir, Gauguin and Picasso; 130 years of art history presented in a pattern and with a compactness seldom found elsewhere.

For half a century, the equipment of the shoemaker workshop of Karl Nachbauer (grandfather of the Schubertiade’s managing director Gerd Nachbauer) had been stowed away. Now it is on display in a small shoemaker museum, which takes up two rooms at Marktstraße 15.

Located directly on the Harder Binnenbecken, training and rental for windsurfing and Stand Up Paddling (SUP) are offered. Canoes and kayaks can also be rented. The light winds at Lake Constance are especially ideal for beginners.

The municipalities of Zwischenwasser, Sulz, Röthis and Rankweil offer an inexpensive opportunity to learn how to ski in the immediate vicinity with the Furx ski lifts. At two practice lifts, budding skiers can practise in peace, while advanced skiers can use the slopes at the T-bar lift.

Basking in the light of Lake Constance, the Bregenz Art Gallery (Kunsthaus) is Vorarlberg’s modern art Mecca.

If you take Watzenegg as your starting point and hike in the direction of Palmern, you will reach the Schwende Alp after a 40-minute walk. After this moderately difficult tour, you stand at 910 metres above sea level above Dornbirn and are rewarded for the ascent not only with the view.

The summer toboggan run, with its racy steep-sided curves and brilliant jumps, is the drawcard for many parents as well as children! The only classic summer toboggan run in Vorarlberg, it provides tremendous fun for young and old alike.
