Ausflugsziele in Vorarlberg

The Alamannen-Museumsdorf Mäder is dedicated to the history and culture of the Alamanni, who immigrated to Vorarlberg in the 2nd half of the 6th century AD at the latest. They subsequently shaped the language, customs and mentality of the region.

The Great Walser Valley can officially call itself a biosphere park, which indicates a high quality of life. For centuries, however, the population had to solve manifold problems in order to exist at all.

The Dornbirn City Museum is housed in a 200-year-old patrician house directly on the market square. On three floors, selected objects and works of art present important chapters of the city's history.

The imposing neo-baroque church building from 1914 with double towers and a mighty dome dominates the townscape and is also called the "Cathedral of the Western Allgäu" because of its size.

The museum, which is housed in a typical Bregenzerwald farmhouse from the 18th century, provides insights into the living style and circumstances in a region that continues to be characterised by timber architecture.

A tasty trip along the Cheese Route. 

The oldest parts of the building originate from the 15th century and the long corridors of the upper floors give us an idea of the architecture of the late Middle Ages. The urban flair of the building is the result of the boom of the mining period.

The Historical and Ethnological Museum has been located in the St.Gallen City Park for almost 100 years. It is an important bearer of the historical memory of the city, and to some extent also of the canton.

Take a stroll through 300 years of hat fashion and discover familiar, interesting and curious facts about headwear. The hands-on stations invite you to try things out and marvel.
