The Great Walser Valley can officially call itself a biosphere park, which indicates a high quality of life. For centuries, however, the population had to solve manifold problems in order to exist at all.

Since July 2016, the vineum bodensee - House for Wine, Culture and History in the historic Heilig-Geist-Spital in the city of Meersburg has enriched the city's cultural offerings.

The Montafon Tourism Museum in Gaschurn is located in an old early fair house and has existed since 1992. For 17 years, the history of tourism was presented here, but since 2009 the house has been reoriented.
