The specialities are the goat's and cow's milk cheeses produced on the alp (as Brettljause with pesto, as a salad with balsamic vinegar or fried with bacon strips or sesame) and the fresh pancakes.

Tight calves are an advantage on an excursion with a pedal boat: Here you move across the water with pure physical strength. Whether you choose the "racing car", "swan" or "water slide" model is up to you.

This is a place where excellent conditions for skiing can be expected: with 109 kilometres of ski runs and 29 ski lifts and cable cars Mellau Damüls Faschina is the largest ski area in the Bregenzerwald.

The attractive mountain village of Schoppernau in the inner Bregenzerwald is the workplace for those local mountain farmers, whose animals graze the valley, the woodland smallholdings and the high alpine pastures.
