Ausflugsziele in Vorarlberg

The rediscovery of the Nibelungenlied’s C and A manuscripts at Hohenems Palace in 1755 and 1779, respectively, marked the starting point of its renaissance and rapid establishment as the German national epic.

Using plans, models, photos and documents, “Rhein-Schauen” in Lustenau has been illustrating the local history of this section of the Rhine, forming the border between Vorarlberg and Switzerland before flowing into Lake Constance, for over 25 years.

This museum houses a permanent collection of works by Vorarlberg artists since the 17th century, and also organises special exhibitions by leading figures in Vorarlberg art history.  

 

The historic Schattenburg

Elisabeth Schwarzkopf ranks among the most important singers of the 20th century. Luckily, her extraordinary career as an opera and concert performer is well documented through a great number of recordings, which set standards until the present day.

Since our environment is very important to us, we converted the farm to IP (integrated crop production) as early as 1989. In 1991 our farm was awarded the Vorarlberg Innovation Prize and in 1992 the Austrian Agricultural Marketing Prize.

Open a window into the past. The Old Times Museum is located in the old village centre of Hohenems in a house built in 1602. The wooden building was saved from demolition in 2011 and has since been renovated and maintained by a sponsoring association.

The Dornbirn City Museum is housed in a 200-year-old patrician house directly on the market square. On three floors, selected objects and works of art present important chapters of the city's history.

For half a century, the equipment of the shoemaker workshop of Karl Nachbauer (grandfather of the Schubertiade’s managing director Gerd Nachbauer) had been stowed away. Now it is on display in a small shoemaker museum, which takes up two rooms at Marktstraße 15.

Twice a week - a local supplier at its best. Numerous fruit and vegetable farmers in Feldkirch and the surrounding area offer their customers lovingly planted, nurtured and subsequently freshly harvested local produce. In addition, many great products are offered by various direct marketers.
