Ausflugsziele in Vorarlberg

The FLATZ Museum in the former premises of the Alte Naturschau goes back to a donation of works by the artist FLATZ, born in Dornbirn in 1952, to the city of Dornbirn. It was opened in 2009 by the former documenta director Jan Hoet.

The St. Gallen Abbey UNESCO World Heritage Site designation not only encompasses the world renowned Baroque hall in the abbey library and the imposing cathedral. It also includes the «miracles of our written heritage».

Just below St. Gerold priory the contemplation and meditation trail winds its way past a series of carefully designed woodland pools through the stillness of the forest.

The baroque cathedral with its dominant double-tower façade is the magnificent landmark of the city of St.Gallen. Together with the Abbey District and the Abbey Library, it forms a unique historical ensemble.

The old wooden pile dwelling is a rare sight on Lake Constance and magically attracts both the curious and bathers. It’s no wonder once they’ve discovered the wonderful sun terrace, the unique view and the sports facilities. Mili has it all – from water polo to slacklining.

The Parkbad open-air swimming baths stands for superlative bathing fun: 10-metre diving tower, 70-metre slide and 50-metre sports pool. Surrounded by shady areas, sunbathing lawn and a variety of sports, including football, volleyball, table football and table tennis.

The Vorarlberg Regional Museum – now known as the Vorarlberg Museum – was founded in 1857, making it one of the oldest museums in the Lake Constance area. Its collections are based on specifically Vorarlberg-orientated themes, whilst retaining national and international links where relevant.

The Montafon mining museum in Silbertal is an outstanding example of family-friendly history education. All age groups can experience the exciting world of mining in this exhibition and get to know first-hand the mining ways of life of bygone days.

The Dornbirn City Museum is housed in a 200-year-old patrician house directly on the market square. On three floors, selected objects and works of art present important chapters of the city's history.
