Ausflugsziele in Vorarlberg

Basking in the light of Lake Constance, the Bregenz Art Gallery (Kunsthaus) is Vorarlberg’s modern art Mecca.

This museum houses a permanent collection of works by Vorarlberg artists since the 17th century, and also organises special exhibitions by leading figures in Vorarlberg art history.  

 

Around 20 hectares of lake areas were created through gravel dredging. These lakes have become a sought-after recreational area. The clean groundwater lying in a gravel basin is used for fishing and bathing. The lake can largely be walked around.

The Alamannen-Museumsdorf Mäder is dedicated to the history and culture of the Alamanni, who immigrated to Vorarlberg in the 2nd half of the 6th century AD at the latest. They subsequently shaped the language, customs and mentality of the region.

Commemorating the local Jewish community and their wide-reaching contribution to the development of Vorarlberg and surrounding areas, the Jewish Museum in Hohenems is a regional museum with international flair, evocatively recalling the exemplary history of the Diaspora.

The FLATZ Museum in the former premises of the Alte Naturschau goes back to a donation of works by the artist FLATZ, born in Dornbirn in 1952, to the city of Dornbirn. It was opened in 2009 by the former documenta director Jan Hoet.

Walter Legge (1906-1979) was the first and most important record producer in classical music.

Rappenloch Gorge and Alploch Gorge - The Rappenloch Gorge and Alploch Gorge in Dornbirn are among the largest gorges in Central Europe. They were milled into the hard limestone by the flowing water of the Dornbirn Ach for 100,000 years.

Following on from the huge success generated by the Indoor Secret Escape Games, the Secret Room, well-timed to coincide with the start of summer, is the number 1 Outdoor Escape Game in Vorarlberg.

The Vorarlberg Regional Museum – now known as the Vorarlberg Museum – was founded in 1857, making it one of the oldest museums in the Lake Constance area. Its collections are based on specifically Vorarlberg-orientated themes, whilst retaining national and international links where relevant.
